Tyson quits against journeyman, calls it a career
Ex-champ laments: ‘I don’t have the stomach for this anymore’
WASHINGTON - The end came for Mike Tyson while he was sitting on a stool. The fighter who was once the baddest man on the planet wanted no more.
Looking more like a pathetic, aging fighter than the man who once terrorized the heavyweight division, Tyson’s career more than likely ended Saturday night when he quit after the sixth round after desperately trying to foul his way to a win against Kevin McBride.
Nineteen years after he became the youngest heavyweight champion ever, Tyson’s stamina, speed and ring skills weren’t even enough to beat an Irish journeyman who has never beaten a heavyweight of any note.
“I don’t have the stomach for this anymore,” Tyson said. “I most likely won’t fight anymore. I’m not going to disrespect the sport by losing to this caliber of fighters.”
In a long — and often bizarre — post-fight press conference, Tyson reiterated his career was over.
“It's finished,” he said, saying his next move would be to go into charity work around the world.

Now... I'm not saying he won't start charity work around the world...
I didn't see the fight, but it just sounds like he's
giving up. Maybe he is worn out and tired of it. Maybe he knows this and just needs the extra bucks.

A sad ending for what could have been the greatest boxer of all time.

I think Tyson might be one of the most overrated athletes of all time.
whenever someone stood up to him,
he lost

Wow! At first glance at Mike, a statement like this may seem utterly true. But if you take the time to learn about Mike, his life, you will quickly recant this innacurate characterization.
Plagued with problems from mental issues, betrayals by so many close to him, to abandonment by his closest family, Tyson is nothing but a fighter. In my book, he's both a human tragedy and success story.
But I know it's so very AMerikkkan to spit on those we know so little about. It's human Amerikkkan nature.

I must agree with D, I ordered the fight last night. What most may have found funny, I found to be very sad !! I think a lot of us knew that Mike was really fighting for the $$$, not to actually win.
Knowing all that this man has been through in his life he is truly a sad case from the very beginning. The only person in his life who really gave a issh was a white woman who car for him for most of hs life. True a lot of "bad" press in his life he brought on himself, but I can't help but feel compassion for someone so lost.
Sadly, evn the 5 mil he made las night wasn't enough to end his nightmare. And I don't think any amount of $$ will do so.

It's Like That
Due to the current financial restraints the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.
