Patrick Takes 4th at Indy 500

IRL rookie Danica Patrick, 23, becomes first woman to finish in top 5 at Indianapolis 500. Dan Wheldon wins race to snap the "Andretti curse."

Dan Wheldon overcame an electrifying run by Danica Patrick and ended 35 years of fabled Andretti bad luck to win the Indianapolis 500 Sunday.

Patrick, running out of fuel in the waning laps, held on to finish fourth, helped by a crash by fellow rookie Sebastien Bourdais one lap from the end. Wheldon ran out of fuel on his cooldown lap.

The best previous finish by a woman was 9th by Janet Guthrie in 1978. The story at Indy all month has been Patrick, only the fourth woman to race at Indianapolis, and Sunday was no exception.

The funny thing is if I catch it, I'll actually watch the Indy 500. I have no reason why. There was controvesy concerning the chick because of the weight difference between her and the other drivers. She can go faster because she's lighter. The other drivers want something done about that.

I'm glad to see her doing her thing. Big ups to her. I was watching this race with my son, he's so much into racing.

It's hard to imagine all the men having the same weight so why complain about her being lighter? This is not Horse racing where all the jockeys have to weigh the same. It does not matter how fast you can go if you don't posess the proper car handling skills.
