This whole thing is BS. Judges don't consider the age of a kid when determining child support, they look at the amount the father makes period. Example: Puffy! Puffy has one of the most RIDICULOUS child support payments I've ever seen. Not to mention he pays for medical expenses, the house, yearly vacations, private school, and so on. That's stuff he pays for OUTSIDE of child support. I don't care how poor the chick was before she got pregnant by him, he should've weighed his options more carefully, but that baby deserves the same lifestyle as her father. And if he's so concerned about the welfare of his daughter, he should just apply for custody himself, since the article makes it seem as though the mother can't even buy diapers.
The whole child support system needs to be reformed anyway. They need to put the funds on a debit card like I stated before and if the mother trys to use it at certain places like nail shops or things like that, the card won't go through. This way they'll be a list of all the purchases made.

Finally, someone who believes in accountability in this argument and you are right, it does need to be revamped

Hmmmm.....so lets just see if he files for full custody....of course the chances of that happening are slim and none.

I truly doubt that he will, especially if he is still an active football player and with the possibility of his being shipped to another team with this being his free agent year
He will pay what the judge orders, which will be based off of their calculations for support.
I really feel sorry for the child

This is the part I agree with. Most men are reluctant to pay child support because of the actions which they witness or suspect their child[ren]'s mother isn't being fortright. Not to say that all have done this, but there are cases where the trust is abused, along with the applicable shaming tactics among other things when the man actually disputes it or without visitation as a tactic.
There needs to be a revamp with accountability and limitations to which it is used IMO
and not to be used in the instance of this current situation where this thread is spawned from

Forgive me but I only read page 1 so I'm not sure what has all been covered but I can speak from both sides. When I was paying child support I used to think she was getting off easy and balling off my money. Now after she died and I was a single father I saw the other side. The money I was sending was barely covering the Daycare bill. Still gotta pay rent, clothes, shoes, food etc etc etc. I think it should go by both incomes and split it up evenly cause there are situations where the man ain't paying near enough as he should
Even with people with money, the man shouldn't be paying 5 G's a month for 1 baby. If he is it shouldn't all go to the mother, it should go partly to the mother and partly into a account for college or for when the kid reaches adulthood. Men even if we can't stand the baby mamma we can't treat em like that they got our kid.

I think this would give some of the men that are on the fence about child support some piece of mind. That is a very good idea.

Get your kid if you don't like the lifestyle which your child have.
What you said was in retrospect Mr. Gumbo, but there has to be a point at the moment in which you seen how much she had to pay for those bills, and from what I've seen in proceedings for the increase of, those same bills used as evidence as to not being enough to sustain your child... am I right?
All of those things you had to do regardless as a parent, and as a single parent, you would've struggled if the other parent was deceased or better yet, unemployed. The argument in which I have argued is the fact that this person is currently unemployed and placed herself in this position for a better standing in court... which is bs
You should take the time to read it to see why this debate is like this...
Read at least the first post and then the rebuttal
Briggs says he'll do right by daughter on ChicagoSports.com
also remember, currently the child is in its third month of existence, and this is the first volley for the announcement of her seeking child support to garner support from the public...
If this was a lady [which most won't take this route] who wanted only the well being of the child to be her only concern, why move out of the home established for you? Even the context of the comments made by both parties shows part of the past history of it... this behavior simply sickens me...
