Just an fyi...Sharpton has been out on behalf of Jena, but you must remember that it was the Radio Talk Show Host, Tony Brown he started the "Jena 6" Revolt over a year ago when Jena was only a dot. He was even the person that named the incident, "Jena 6". It wasn't until the last 4-6 weeks ago that many of the black leaders or those with power joined the Jena 6 band wagon. You must also remember that Jena 6 is only a patch, but we need to change the laws through our legislative representative, congress, us senate, judicatory or court systems (local, state, appeals court, supreme court, etc).

There are many Jena 6 incidents throughout the country. We can continue getting in an uproar over an incident here or there, but one day we need to solve the root of the problem and change the laws to stop being used against African American males and write then the way they should be meant to be. That is to protect all people regardless of race or circumstances.

I am so happy that America is waking up to this and many injustices that maybe we can change many of the unjust laws that are on the books.

I am so sorry for what is happening to these kids, but when will the parents wake up. We are so obsessed with integration that we throw our children into these situation. This is what happens when we integrate with beast who have no ability to integrate with each other let alone another race of people that they absolutely hate. We keep wanting to believe that the racist are the white parents. However, it is constantly being showned that it is them no matter the age. We as parents who are desiring integration are placing our children in the hands of a beast who is hell bent on destroying the.

Take your money and energy and work on improving the schools in your neighborhood and stop trying to integrate. I think The Honorable Elijah Muhammad said years ago, that integration will bring death.

Many of us are truly insane, after all of these years still seeking justice, approval and love from a being who can't even provide justice, approval and love to his own.

The civil rights organizations and these activists are reactionary, not pro-active. You nailed it with the statement that we need to solve the root of the problem. The mandatory minimum sentences should have been fought against when those laws were put into place. There should be clear-cut rules on when a school issue becomes a criminal issue. How is it determined that a school fight has reached the point of police intervention? There are black kids in elementary schools being hauled off to juvenile court for the most frivilous incidents. Zero tolerance? And who do you think gets the brunt of the punishment under that senseless rule? Notice how the majority of the time a zero tolerance stance is deemed stupid and the media picks up on the story, its the case of a white kid. That's when you see the kid on Letterman and the View....with us....well, we don't even know about 90% of the cases because the child isn't blond haired with blue eyes.

The judicial system is the new Jim Crow...its the new KKK.....and you're right, trying to pick a case here or there will not solve the problem. You can't heal a stab wound with a band-aid....hell, you can't even stop the bleeding.

We need a national online database that will collect and catalog these incidents. This will provide a point of reference to get a georgraphical idea of what's going on and its severity and frequency. With the advancements in the internet I would think this isn't beyond comprehension (any Ideas DBlack? ;) ).

As far as integration goes, I was one of the true unfortunates thrusted into its initial stages back in '72 in Ohio, and we kids may just as well been the indians in Kansas that were forced to change their names and "assimilate" into white culture. We were only valued in sports and avoided in academics. Only a handful of the few dozen white teachers I had gave a flying f@#k about what or if I learned. The rest were QUICK to call you mentally/learning/emotionally deficient, and were just as quick to defame you in any way or reason they could. In my parent's defense, all they saw was opportunity and we were the ones who came back to tell them all it was a kind of dupe. They expected those sons of slave masters to be fair to us kids without understanding that tearing us kids apart was the key to the future of their dominance.

Its the same shyt we see today.

I tell my kids that most white folks are gatekeepers who think, almost to a man, that it's their indivudual responsibility to keep us (and other folks of color) out of their circles as much as possible, yet these "circles" include control over economics, the law, law enforcemnt and transportation. East Indians, Asians, Hispanics etc. are better able to compete with whites while remaining outside their circles because of their close-nit family structures. As blacks, still oppressed by whites, we need to (as a unit) identify these oppresions and move to change laws that work to support it against us as black folk, because unlike those ethnics previously mentioned we are targeted for exploitation for our money and time and largely because we tolerate it, but mostly because we aren't educated/knowledgeable enough to exploit the resources.
We are caught in the web of integration whether we want to be or not. Yet, amazingly we avoid organization that will combat these type of incidents and while this one in Jena is somewhat isolated, it's still starting to become more frequent (like the girl abducted and tortured in West VA).

Integration hurt us more than it helped. Before integration we had our own everything and I mean EVERYTHING. After integration people started walking pass the local diner to go over to the "integrated" 1 just because we could, the food wasn't better and the local diner eventually closed. That scenario was repeated in everything we had.

Oh the justice system is doing damage to us "after" we've served our time. Black women and males don't have hardly no rights anymore. Can't vote and so on and so on.
