What I think needs to be brought out front is the working of a grand jury. Who are these people? What evidence are they looking at? Why must they be so secret about it. For all we know, the grand jury could consist of undercover policemen. I say that because how in the world could you riddle someone with 50 bullets and it be deemed an accident.

The only thing that changes is the date on the calendar.

Had they shot a dog that many times, or even just ONCE, the outcome would be very different. Any kind of animal's life is more precious than a Black person's.

These cops should be charged with murder but it's best to charge them with manslaughter to get a conviction because no jury -- or I should say no non-Black jury -- is going to convict police officers of first degree murder. This is where the Amadou Diallo case went wrong. The Distric Attorney prosecuting the Diallo case knew very well a first degree murder conviction of those four pigs would be likely in the Bronx. The only reason why the D.A. charged those cops with first degree murder was to quell possible social dissent from the public. After all the Abner louima torture case was only a year prior to the Diallo murder. This is exactly why the D.A. agreed to export this case from the Bronx to conservative Albany. A first degree murder conviction of four white cops in Albany, New York would be slim to none. They knew this from the get go. All this was pre-planned. This is correct. The D.A. didn't want to convict those cops of first degree murder.

I'm originally from Queens, New York. Still have quite a bit of family and friends there. Sean Bell could have be any of my relatives or friends. Which is why I desperately want to see a conviction. With manslaughter all you have to prove is invoulantary negligence and there's the conviction and prison sentence. But I wouldn't be surprised at all if there's some sort of foul play (again) on behalf of the Distric Attorney prosecuting this case. I'm going to watch this case closely. As Black people we all should. We have to know how this *justice* system works as an adversary. For all those folk who believe the judicial system in America is impartial, keep believing that nonsense, because Santa Clause, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Ferry will grant your wishes if you allow yourself to be persuaded with a false sense of eurocentric idioms and metaphors.
