My spin on it...
This is truth of just how many enemies Black people in America have, agree or not and that is okay. Everyone's "truth's" may vary.
Whites: They gasped, but didn't say nearly the "evil" things about Michael Richards (Kramer) that they did about O.J. Simpson.
Jews: Jerry Seinfeld and every other Jewish comedian grabbed the nearest microphone and defended Richards' (a fellow Jew) actions. Moreover, "money" runs EVERYTHING. Seinfeld went "live" on Letterman to accomplish two things: (1) as stated, to show support to this piece of chit and (2) "You do the math,"--season seven/DVD was due out the day AFTER Turkey day. "A fool and his money is soon parted" Seinfeld was making a concerted effort in "damage control" because of his fear of dismal sales due to his buddy's racist tirade. Starting to get it now?
Hispanics: Legenday comedian Paul Rodriguez, who owns part of the comedy club that Richards's tirade occurred at--and who was in the audience at the time,- is still treating the statements as a "joke" that "didn't have a punchline" and then of course took the Aryan Nation talking point of bringing up rap music and black comedians use of the "N" word. The only problem with that argument is that rappers and comedians are entertainers and their use of the word (however appalling it is to me) is meant for entertainment. Richards was not trying to "entertain" anyone with his words. If so, why were these brothers and other blacks in the audience NOT laughing? Not so funny...as a rule, Hispanics do not use the term, "border-jumper" to disrespect one another. Yet, I have actually heard Hispanics reference one another using the "N" word. And this is acceptable?
I have always held the premise that one of the main problems in black dynamics is that many of us as black people "continue to look to the dominant culture for acceptance and that is just not going in happen on a broad scale." Approval and solidarity should be sought with us--first and always.
