IRS Investigates the NAACP
The NAACP is under investigation by the IRS for violations of thier tax exempt status.
An IRS agent stated "In a letter dated Oct. 8, 2004, Internal Revenue Agent Kathleen D. Krawczyk said that the focus of the investigation is "limited to the issue of whether or not your organization has intervened in a political campaign."
The NAACP has been the most vocal critic of the Bush Administration and many suspect this investigation to be a retaliatory response to their well-expressed sentiments.
