You got that right. All do they is give it a fancy name, but the underlying elements are the same.

She's a single mother attending NC Central University (an HBCU), trying to support herself while attending school.
Rape is not an act of sex; it's an act of violence. She didn't any more deserve this than a pizza delivery guy deserves to be beaten up.

Saraphen, as a women, I feel sorry for her getting raped. However, she could've chose to get her money in a less risky manner like most college students do which is financial aid ( scholarships, loans, and ect). there's no excuse for her going the route of the Players Club b/c her body is her castle.

IN spite of what those women were doing-- they didn't eserve what happened to them. NO one deserves to be devalued whether it's a prostitute or a minister's wife. They are human beings-- someone's daughter, mother or sister. Some women feel that they have no choice but to go that route-- many of the women I've know who have worked in that line of business were victims of abuse as children and were asaulted by some of their "clients" as well.Low self-esteem and desperation influence people to make bad choices in life. Abuse devalues and dehumanizes a person to the point where they feel their sexuality is all they have as a selling point, which is sad. Working for an escort service unfortunately puts these women into contact with men who don't respect women and have a twisted view of them--so they think it's ok to do what they want to them because they are seen as creatures to be objectified and degraded. It's horrible.

Well said, bibadiva, I couldn't have said it better myself. No one deserves to be treated like garbage, no matter what their situation is.

While I agree that no one deserves to be treated in such a manner, I'm not going to make excuses for her. She had a choice, we all have choices, it is just that sometimes we like the take the easy way out, and when we do, we usually suffer the consequences. Every human being has a choice because we are not programmed, we have thinking ability (no matter how small).

I understand completely what you're saying. However, I can not sit back and justify her profession just b/c what may have happen to her as a child. Because, I know of plenty women that went through the same enviromental backgrounds as this female but managed to get their education paid through more conventional means.
Now, as for gentleman that commited this crime, I hope the recieve the highest form of punishment.

Someone in Durham commented that if the roles were reversed....white girl and a black frat house...46 brothers would be in jail already waiting for the DNA report.

Keepin it real, the young lady's line of work isn't what most of us consider respectable. It is not something I would want my daughter, sister, mother or any other female I love participating in. Whether or not these women look at themselves in a negative way, I think nearly every guy who contributes to their "paycheck" views them in some disrespectful manner which does lead to situations such as these. And why would any woman want to be involved in a profession where they are consistently looked at as nothing more than sex objects?
Having said that, I will not judge these women for making the choice that they have made ESPECIALLY those with children cuz I tell you right now if I thought, right or wrong, that it comes down to my child's needs I'd rob, steal and kill without a second thought. And I know that without a doubt. Truth of the matter is that for every good choice we make we've either made 8 bad ones or been presented with the chance to make a bunch of bad choices and the only thing seperating a lot of us from the strippers, drug dealers, drug addicts, and alcoholics is the grace of God.
