Do you know the adults where your children play?

When I was a kid, we always played outside. We played in the vacant lot, on the sidewalk, sometimes in somebody's yard, but we never went inside our friends' house to play. Nobody ever said we couldn't, but it was the unwritten code. When you went over your friend's house, you would stand outside the screen door and ask his mama, "Can Johnny come out and play."

And that was back in the day when everybody knew everybody else. Nowadays, do you know the parents where your kids play?

I saw this in the Sunday Parade Magazine:

Over 40% of homes with children in America have a gun, many left unlocked or loaded. Every year, thousands of children are killed or seriously injured as a result.

So next time you send your child to another home...

ASK if there are guns where your children play!!

Not only do I know the adults where my 9 yr old plays but I know their phone numbers too!! I got that from my grandma. He never goes inside of their homes and they aren't allowed to come inside mine (for neat freak reasons). And he's only allowed to play with certain children.

It's Like That

Due to the current financial restraints the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

All praise due to God I am blessed to have a big yard and two children who are contented with entertaining each other except when the cousins may come over. I have NEVER sent them by any friends home except for a b/day party of their closefriends.

My little one is only 6 so I haven't had to cross that bridge yet. And if/when we do, I will not only know the parents, but will most likely be up in the house with them. I mean, how much can you learn from people, just by introducing yourself, and bringing over a pie? You know what I mean.

I think going into someones home is very personal. And if I don't know you on a personal level, my child shouldn't be in your home.

My mother and father were very strict with us. Being four girls, my father thought we were rare gems, and that the world was 'out to get us'. While I think their strictness was over the top, I appreciate it because we were protected, and never harmed by strangers.

I think I'm okay with never being to a sleep over in exchange for having a peaceful and innocent childhood.

Every parent should know where their children are playing, especially if they are going into someones home.
