Hotep,
The neighborhood is not big enough for a registered sex offender and me. The first sign of trouble I know I would be at the offender’s house. I can’t live my life like that nothing against the person, but my son and future kids come first in my life.

Here's the flip side of the coin. If you were already established as a resident and a sex offender moved in, would you pack up and move? Please keep in mind that not all sex offenders bother to register or they may move and not bother to register under their new address. It's possible for an individual to molest children for years and years and not be reported by any of the victims.
While we're on the subject of sex offenders, a sex offender or child molester could be living right next door to you or in your building living what appears to be a normal life that may or may not include a wife and child(ren).
What happens if you find out that a family member is a child molester or sex offender? Will you do a follow up investigation? Interview family members? Would you turn the information over to the authorities?
Sex offenders can be found in nursing homes, child care centers, schools, churches, after school programs etc. Please, please, please do what's humanly possible to protect our children

You're right. And sometimes they appear to be nice, charming people....not creepy at all.

well in most neighborhoods now a days that have neighborhood committies that screen the people that want to buy homes in the neighborhoods now. they also have meetings on certain nights to let the people that live in these neighborhoods know what is going on. they are doing background checks on anyone that wants to move into these neighborhoods that have this. I think is a great idea to do this. The way they work is if you refuse you can not move into the neighborhood. basically the committee has to approve the person that wants to buy the house.

Nah I wouldn't do it because I'd probably be in jail before he would because he'd be a dead ducky.

It's Like That
Due to the current financial restraints the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

I thought those kind of committees were outlawed with Fair Housing Laws. North Carolina's laws don't permit that kind of committee.

Website: Megan's Law
There is a website that lets you know if there is a sex offender living in your neighborhood : IT'S CALLED MEGAN'S LAW.COM-they will let you input your state and synchronize your address and you will be surprised who is living in your neighborhood right now..look at the school locations as well and I did find some living in the area. If you buy a house and there isn't a sex offender there whose to say that one may eventually move into your neighborhood. so please everyone check into that website !! SO MUCH INFO.
