manners/respect for our relatives

Unfortunately for our society-along with addressing our aunts and uncles by their first names only -this presents the problem of Disrespect for the older relatives.Addressing them by their first names will create a certain comradie within and the younger generation will begin to feel as though these relatives are on their level and can address them with a certain dialogue that's associated with their peers as well-I feel as though we should still address our relatives in the proper manner-call me old-fashioned but I do feel this is RESPECT-which we've gotten away from.

That is old fashion if you are including adults. I will be damned if I say "aunty___" as a 25 year old man.

You are hanging too much on simple words....if kids are taught the hierarchy, then they could address every adult as "Human" and do so respectfully.

Lizaa I understand what you are saying and I do see what you mean, but with all due respect, I do not disrespect my aunt in anyway by calling her by her first name alone, nor do I put her on my level. I could tell her to kiss my butt and just by putting a title in front of her name doesnt make the statement any more respectful.
I know my example might be a far stretch from what you are saying, but I was taught to respect her period, above any title put in front of her name. I still say my yes/no ma'am/sir, ms, mr and so on, but its not habitual.
This is just me though. I dont know why my family didn't zero in on titles, but I tell you this, none of us have crossed any of our aunts or uncles the way I've seen it be done these days.
My nieces call me auntie all day, then turn around and tell me how things are going to be and what I can do.
