I believe that sex education should start as soon as they undestand and can reason a bit, say about age 2 or 3. Sex education at this age should primarily consist of letting them know that there are certain places on their bodies that no one should be touching and vice versa. |

true at a young age i talked to my girls about the private places on their bodies that no one should touch except a doctor, even then....i'll be watching...when they each reached the age of about 6 to 8 i took them in front of their dad,(i was married at the time).sat them all down.and explain to their father why i choose to say ,what i was about to say he understood! i again told my girls if anybody be it,my husband,(their father),my brothers, his brothers, and strangers, ever try to do or say anything to them that that shouldn't happen. you say i'm telling my moma!...if they then say ...your moma won't believe you...you say...yes she will!...i even said a couple of things i think people would say in order to get that child not to tell.either way..i let my girls know,be honest don't lie on anyone, and things will be taken care of. when they hit 9 i talk to them about the things that would happen to their bodies, and when they hit 11 and 12 i started talking to them about how babies come to be diseases, unprotected sex, things boys would say in order to get it,(if they were young daters).at 13 my younger girl and her classmates walked in the girls bathroom at school ,only to catch a female classmate and a boy having sex.herand my 17 year old always come to me with any questions that they heard from their classmates convo.,(usually they're talking x-rated stuff, and wrong pretty much about what they think they know).we talk and i explain the correct of what they were trying to say.i'm proud to hear both my girls say .."sometimes the teachers trys to teach us about sex and things about it,when i answer right they are impress, and i say my moma talks to me all the time". i hear some people are afraid of talking to their kids, thinking if they do,that's telling them to go and have sex.i said well if you don't someone eles will, and it might be in the wrong way.my girls are virgins, the reason why...they go to school and back home.they do go places..but only with another adult.no going over to friends house unless it's where i can see the house and they stay on the porch.they tell me in school ,some kids tease and say you guys can't go anywhere or still a virgin.but then there are those kids and teachers that say good things about that.either way i don't care ,the other thing that makes me proud is hearing my girls say..."moma i'm glad you love us enough to protect us,and there are so many girls in my school that had sex ,saying i wich i was still a virgin!...so i say talk to your kids...most will appreciate it!

For me, conversations started at 11 and progressed from there. If its something that I think they shouldn't have known at that time, I just tell them that & why. I didn't want them listening to their friends or getting some wrong information.
Growing up my parents wouldn't talk about anything (but I sure as hell saw it - seems like I walked in on everyone having sex). I remember one time at 13 I was playing with a boy down the street and my father became angry. They took me to the doctor and claimed that I almost got pregnant But I knew better because we hadn't done anything. I don't want them to be uptight about sex. |
