Punishments
Okay yall with kids, what are some ways you punish your kids?
Right now I got 2 boys that are totally opposite so it's a challange. I'm at war with my youngest cause he is tripping in school lately. Right now I got his room stripped to nothing but the bed, desk and dresser, no toys. He has to stay in his room and stand in the middle of the floor doing nothing until it's time to shower and go to bed.
Just curious because there are alot of creative parents out there.

The two older one's are too big (18 & 16) but I will take things away (i.e., iPod, Cell Phone, a party, etc.) That 12 year old will get the same thing but if he goes to far, an a** whopping.

I'm no parent but I know that if you take something and it doesn't affect them, see what really will teach them a lesson. Thats the best way to always do it.

You are right because sometimes, they don't care if I take away certain things. Then I take away going places and something I know they really want.

This has always been an ongoing battle in my house to find alternatives to the "act right" strap. Here are some jewels that my mother taught me;
1. take away thing that they like
2. stand in one place on one leg (no leg switching!)
3. sit in the imaginary chair against the wall
4. iron cross (just stand there with your arms straight out)
You just have to be creative without being brutal!
Stripping the room sounds like me just a few years ago. I ended up with a bunch of "10 years old boy crap" taking up valuable space in my garage/sanctuary!

Well this weekend we going down to the hood at the MLK Center and find a kid that doesn't have that much and I'm going to make him give his Nintendo DS to the kid. He's also on this program where he's got to read and document his books for a total of 6 hours and they get a free 6 Flags ticket but little does he know that when he get's that ticket he's gonna give it to someone else. I don't want to just whip his butt because as a kid that's all I got and really it didn't really stop me from cuttin up.

i agree with you....and also when my kids were younger agreeing with deej,(like god said...spare the rod, spoil the child)...my girls don't do anything wrong as far as,school, the teachers say they are very mannerable and respectful,(they better be!) at home they are where i can see them.but in the house!...man!,sometimes they argue like hell!,and it's always over the TV,(everyone has one in their room, but only 2 has cable).who's turn to wash the dishes, things like that!...my 17 girl...loves,loves,loves,monday nite raw(wrestling),and listening to music,(she loves dancing),and talking on the phone.i get her with wrestling..she acts as though she's gonna die if she missed one episode!...my 14year old...loves with a capital L...her videogames, especially the wwe smackdown , reading her animal books, also wrestling shows.those are the things i take away for about a week or two!

Once, for a 6 six week period, (progress report received and six weeks until the report card), my son lost all priviliges except: listening to the radio, reading and board games.
No tv, computer (except as required for homework), no bike, skateboard, playing with friends, and oops it was football season...no practice, no dressing with the team.
By week 2 he was begging me to just whip him and get it over with. My response was...You don't get to pick your punishments. My point was well made, he understood the priority and the science grade that put him on punishment...came up to a "B".

Yeah the latest punishment I used with my 2 sons, taking their favorite things away really seem to have worked for right now. My oldest step son is doing everything I ask him to do, doing great at school and doing great at home. My youngest son is doing better at school and he's showing alot of improvements at home.
