Million Father March
On the first day of school fathers, grandfathers, step-fathers,foster fathers and any other kind of fathers are being asked to march their children to school. This will show the dedication to that childs education and future. From what I read this started out as a Chicago thing but now about 50 cities are participating in the event. Hopefully that number will grow to the maximum. I know some of the schools are far away from home, I suggest driving but parking a few blocks away. My knucklehead is only 2 but you better believe I'm gonna march her to daycare. For a better details here is the site..

What's next I wonder, Million Left Handers' March? Or one legged Men Ride?

No disrespect intended.
The dead beat fathers march might be interesting, if it gets started. It might be hard to get hold of them though.

I understand why this is important. I just wish more black parents would attend parent teacher school night and pta or pto meetings.

Well it's been awhile since I've been here to add my few cents but do we really need another "march"?
I think it's really pitiful that we have to send out mass e-mails, gossip, word of mouth hooplah and all this other nonsense to try and encourage a thing that should be second nature. Who are we doing all this marching for anyway? Those who criticize and lable Blacks aren't going to change their mind just because we walked our kids to school one day. Those of us who don't or wouldn't think of walking our children to school on the first day won't be affected because most would probably not get the point of it. Those of us who have and do walk our children to school regularly don't need a rally commitee to tell us when to do the right thing or that we're doing a good job.
Is this whole thing just for news coverage? If so, for what? So we can "prove" to the white folks that "look! We can behave like decent human beings who love our kids too!" We don't need a march to communicate these kinds of concepts to the world. All we need is to communicate amongst each other. Talk to your neighbor. Look out for each other and expect nothing in return.
A good deed done is it's own reward.
