Thumbs up I'm proud of you

I was conversing with my father over the phone earlier on today. During the course of our conversation, he said to me "i'm proud of you son". After the call was over, i suddenly thought back to my teenage years. There were many times that i could have done many stupid, irresponsible things though i knew those things to be wrong. I was usually stopped in my tracks my suddenly remembering my parents tell me that they were proud of me and they were proud of the man that i was becoming. I just wanted to encourage the parents on Afrochat to remember to affirm their children. Telling your child how proud you are of them encourages them to stay on the right track, it's just as important as telling your children or showing them just how much you love them.

Agreed. In my own life, the words of my parents have played a pivotal role in making me the man that i am today. My parents (thank heavens) understood the long lasting effect that words would have on my life and that of my younger brother. They encouraged us in whatever good we did and after every achievement, i'd hear those words, i'd hear how proud my parents were because of the individual i was evolving into. When i heard those words, i'd stand so tall in the inside, though i was just a kid. Those words made me a giant. They made me want to excel even more, or to be more disciplined, to simply be more, and for the better. The best times though, were when i'd hear them for no reason at all, they'd just be said in closing a conversation. They weren't said everyday, but often enough :).

That's very true.

Nice topic, by the way.
