I would teach them the truth about Santa, why he exists, and why the holiday of Christmas itself is surrounded with untruths. It's the commercialism of the season that really gets me.

I feel that it depends on the parent and what age the child is. That whole lie thing to me seems like a bunch of bull. I have yet to meet a parent who hasn't told their child one lie.
Telling your kid the truth about Santa, huh? Why stop there? How about we tell them about the tooth fairy, the Easter Bunny and that the big purple dinosaur named Barney doesn't exist either.
Personally I never believed in Santa. We didn't have a chimney and I seriously doubted that some overweight White guy was going to give me presents.

Its obviously a lie, since we as parents do know Santa doesn't exist...but... |

I agree...
I think its fun...
& I see no harm in letting my kids have a little fun...they have the rest of their lives to be serious about things. ;)
I don't think they'll be bitter or need to see a counselor about it when they get older.

Yep, it is a lie. To every parent, I respect whatever rule you use, but if I will not let Santa or the tooth fairy come and steal what glory that is mine. I work hard for those couple of dollars and I choose to spend it on you. I want you to know that I love you and I am blessing you with what God has blessed me with.

I've always taught my kiddos that there's no such thing because I've always been a true believer in not letting them sit on some white dudes lap making promises to them that he can't keep!! I just figure that most kids aren't as fortunate as ours might be and good 'ol St. Nick doesn't flow down everyones chimney either.
I think it's cool just to be straight up with your kiddos from jump, that way they don't get all hyped up with something that doesn't exist.
It's nice to play pretend in the movies, but when it comes to reality, we let them know where the real gifts came from.

It's Like That
Due to the current financial restraints the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

Unless your daddy is a big white guy in a red suit that arrives on a sleigh and then slides down the chimney (even when you don't have one), yes, its a lie. Unless reindeers fly, yes, its a lie.
I don't see where this hurts anything though, not that its right, but a lie is a lie regardless of the season.

Yes it is a lie. But to each his/her own, I make no judgements if that is what you do but for me there is.....
No Santa
No Easter Bunny [since when does a rabbit lay eggs and what does that have to do with the resurrection of Christ]
No Tooth fairy
No boogie man
and none of that other made up stuff either.

I'm a christian also and while I don't push the whole SANTA this or that,
I understand that kids are just that kids and I see no harm in them thinking about SANTA!
As long as I am raising them to understand the true meaning of christimas which isn't the way it is commercialized i'm cool...
