Schwarzenegger Signs Video Game Bill
Gov. Schwarz singed a bill in Cali making it illegal to sell video games with explicit sexual content and 'reckless mayhem' to minors. Although there has been no clear evidence that these games contribute to the violence in teens and kids, the right once again wants to violate the constitution to forward their social agenda.
When I used to do medium to large LANParties in Atlanta, never once did any of those gamers, adult or teenager engage in acts of violence or lawbreaking conduct. This law is NOT going to 'protect children and strength familes'!
Why is it ok for kids to watch the vile filth on television and not be able to play a video game of similar content? Sounds hypocritical to me. As a parent, there are some movies, television shows and games I would not allow my child to be exposed to. But that is the rights of parents and families and not the right of the government. THe social communism that the Republicans are engaging in must stop.
Hypocrite

I AGREE & games like Grand theft Auto & Recon, etc.. are for adults. Parents need to be aware of what they kids are doing, we don't need a law for everything

Ahnold is a hypocrite of the highest order. Most of his movies depicted "reckless mayhem", and he did make one or two porno flicks back in the 70's. I really think that if they want to control what minors see, (since they've decided that parents are not responsible enough to do it themselves) they should focus on the entertainment industry as a whole...not just the video games.

Even if there was a law it wouldn't make a bit of difference because most of the time kids watch videos that are in the house with no control whatsoever.
While I was on holiday one of my younger cousins, who is only 12, asked me if I ever watched porn, and she was not shy about it. Her mum has all sort of XXX rated movies lying about the house, which they watch when the mum is out partying. These girls also watch alot of late night TV.
I agree it is down to the parents not any government.

Yet he's in talks with the movie studios to make another "Terminator 3 or 4"?? Arnold needs his arse whipped big time. They were talking about it on "The Insider" on Friday night. The man can barely speak the friggin' language and they made him governor of Cali? Oh brother!! Talk about ruining a childs mind.

I don't care for, or about, Schwarzenegger, but I don't really see the harm in banning stores from selling video games to childrent that are innappropriate.
My son is only 6, and at this rate, I have no interest what so ever in purchasing a playstation, game cube, nothing. To me, it's a complete waste of energy. But that's just my opinion. And if he shows interest, I guess that will be his fathers decision to make, and I will definitely have something to say about how often he uses it.
My nephews are big gamers. When I take them to the store, they have money, or I'm buying and they'll grab games and head for the register. Of course I'm ignorant of the games, etc. but not to the extent that I can read the label to know if the game is appropriate or not.
I absolutely agree that it should be the responsibility of parents to raise their children and be sure they are not buying or playing games not suitable for children, but what's the reality folks. Like a few of you have already mentioned, that's not happening for a lot of our kids.
It's not like this law is prohibiting the production of these Adult gaming features, the law is saying Wal-Mart, you cannot sell ABC game to this 10 year old... I don't see the problem with that. I could see the disagreement if they were making a law against the games all together, but that's not the case is it?
I haven't seen or played the games so I may be way out of line. But I have to say that this may be a step in the right direction... one thing at a time?
If I'm missing something, please let a sistah know.
