Piracy-check mandatory for Windows add-ons

I knew this was coming: Microsoft is clamping down on piracy and illegitmate copies of their software via a new program called the Windows Genuine program.

In a nutshell, if your copy of Windows cannot be verified as unique, you will not be able to download MS updates and goodies. You will be able to access fixes, however, but everything else is off limits.

Just another tactic of Microsoft to squeeze every bit of profit they can out of their well-entrenched monopoly.

I noticed this just a couple of weeks ago. I thought perhaps it was something that was always in place that I never paid attention to. Had to turn my laptop over and find some serial number sequence.

"Enhancing the Value" must be code for squeezing every last possible dollar out of their user base. It will probably get cracked easily. I remember when they said "Windows XP Activation" will be mandatory haha

I have had to type in a serial number at least once for my XP within the past year.
