I use fruity loops. I have never used anything else.
Fruity loops is said to be very easy to use once u experiment with it. I have experimented for a year now and i dont think i have gotten too far. The Tutorials aren't very descriptive, and most people that i know have tried with it have just given up.
I have been able to make some good songs with it though.... but there are things that i want to do , and i dont know how to do, as well as instruments i want but i dont know what they are and... how to..."make" them sound the right way. I usually work with the things on default and the Lord helps me put it all together.
I also heard of a program called Reason.
I heard it was easy to use. (it looked complicated to me...lol)
I also heard that it was rare.
I dont think that these programs are really made for people who have no idea what they are doing. (or at least fruity loops. )
how is protools?

My son uses Fruity Loops to make the beats that he sells to local rap artists. I'll ask him what else he has. He has a PC dedicated to his sound studio.

Yes, once u got it and paid for the real version u use the password and u can order the "fruity loops bible" (they need to be shot for calling it that), there are also tutorials online that no one can acess unless they were given a password after they bought it.

I know some aspiring artists that use both fruityloops and ProTools. The big boys use ProTools, as it's much more flexible and powerful. Fruityloops is less intimidating and very powerful as well.
I was able to create some beats in my first hour with the application. It's incredibly easy to use (in comparison to other products), and surely one a person can start off with.
Here are the ProTools and Fruityloops websites.

FruityLoops

Ooh, You all have started something now. I'm really going to look into this. Even though I didn't request it, thanks for the info.
