As I've been working on my blog (don't ask the name, cause it's not ready), I've been very unhappy with the blog's builtin composer. Not only is it ugly, but I don't like the fact that formatting is limited and that I feel forced to use the client to work on drafts, publish, edit, etc...
Well, I've found 3 blog clients that are excellent. Two were actually already installed on my computer. Here are some real benefits of using standalone blog software:
- Can work on writings at your leisure without an internet connection
- Formatting is more powerful, flexible.
- Draft management is less cumbersome.
- Can use built in collaboration features of blog client with blog development.
- Can better exploit native applications such as spell check, image editing, find/replace tools, word counter, custom meta tagging.
- More attractive and intuitive user interface.
Here are my 3 Three listed by ranking (my opinion):
#1 -
Adobe Contribute. Tightly integrated with other adobe apps, superb featureset. Can purchase as standalone or part of any CS3 Suite.
#2 -
Microsoft Word 2007. Yes, it supports blogging and is superb. Can purchase as standalone or any Office 2007 suite.
#3 -
BlogJet. A standalone blog client. Nice featureset.
