If you have a geek in your circle of associates and/or friends you may have overheard them say "Q6600", followed by a slew of adjectives and emotional gestures.
That's because the Q6600 is not only an affordable quad core (that's 4 physical cpus) processor, runs cool, but reports are abundantly overflowing that it easily overclocks to as much as 3.6ghz! Yes, it ships at a stock clock rate of 2.4, but can be pimped to run at a 1.2ghz overclock gain!
Well, I'm officially a hater, because a friend of mine just got his and I can confirm that the overclocking hype is real...3.6ghz with air cooling!
Multiprocessing in Windows is far superior to single cpu systems. Not only is your system more responsive, but it's able to multitask more effectively with a larger number of applications open. And if you are using a smp aware application like Quake4 or Photoshop CSx, then the gains are even more apparent.
Bottom line here is without overclocking, this cpu is the best value right now. Period.
