PS3 Lines Already Forming (9 Days to Launch)
Nine days until Sony’s PlayStation 3 launches in America, and lines are already forming. A CAG forumer went to Best Buy this morning and saw about 7 people waiting outside. He went inside and one of the workers told him that they had been there since Monday. He immediately pondered: “Do these people have no lives?”
Of course the life of the waiting-in-line-for-almost-two-weeks PS3 fans isn’t made easier by a bunch of people coming to Best Buy and making funny remarks like: “I hope you guys brought enough food!” Another one said, “Where is the line for PS4? Is it on the other side?”
I wonder what life would be like if you had almost two weeks to just wait and do nothing. Do they take a holiday for this, or are they unemployed, at least the latter would make some sense, they could sell their PS3 on eBay. But these seem like PS3 fanboys, and die-hard ones at that. Hopefully for them they won’t be disappointed on November 17.

Eveyone is talking about getting this for Xmas, but Sony said it will use the "full scope of the law" to block the importing of it before its European release, which I believe is in March.
Even with that, you will be sure to find people with it. :whistling

Yeah, March '07 is the European PS3 launch date. Sony's cut the original 1,000,000 unit shipment for the U.S. release to a mere 400,000. If you see anyone with one (over there before the March '07 launch), believe they paid out the *** for it (upwards of $5,000). N' that's the only justification for these folks already starting to form a line, to get one n' sell it on eBay. 360's were going for an average of $3,000 after it's Nov. launch last year before Xmas. I got 2 for 400 apiece from Wal-Mart in Jan. n' was still able to sell the second on eBay for over $700.00.

this is the way is was last year at best buy when the xbox 360 came out. i love gaming but not that much. one employee later told me that they sold out all they had in about a hour and looking at how long the line was i had to believe him.
i may get back into console gaming but they need to make those pads bigger to fit my mittens

I'm not into gaming like that and even if I was, I'm not spending $300 or $400 or a game, nor am I devoting two weeks out of my life to stand in line to purchase one. But to each their own.

Large queues are forming outside Japanese electronics stores as gamers vie to be the first to get their hands on a PlayStation 3.
The console officially went on sale on 11 November but reports suggest few stores opened at midnight to let fans get the long-awaited gadget.
Instead stores are organising lotteries to decide who in the queue gets a PS3.
Many gamers could go home disappointed as Sony has only made 100,000 machines available on launch day.

That would be a shame after being in the queue for so long to go home empty handed.

Around here somebody rolled up with a van full of homeless guys to hold their place in line to buy the PS3.
And Ebay is putting restrictions on Playstation sales before Friday.
Only established eBay vendors -- those who have racked up comments from at least 50 previous customers and have positive ratings of at least 98 out of 100 points -- can list PS3s before Friday.
Each vendor can list only one PS3 per eBay account.
The listing must include a photo of the pre-order receipt, and the seller must guarantee shipment within 30 days from the date of purchase. Before Friday, PS3s can be listed on eBay only in auction formats -- not as "buy it now" items.

Yeah I just read about that. http://www.news4gamers.com/ps3/News-15255.aspx there's the link to the YouTube video showin' the homeless people gearing up to wait in line. Sad thing is people just don't realize there wont be 'nough to go 'round. Each store will have no more than 5-10 units. And here at my local BestBuy I see easily 40 people waitin' in line as of 2 days ago. It just doesn't make sense to me...if your going to do all that waitin' then you must be hardcore. But wouldn't someone that hardcore have a little more knowledge? Don't they know there's only a couple hundred thousand of these things to go 'round the whole U.S.? What makes them think each store will have 20+ units? Stupid. That video up there says there reaching $2,000. There well over that. I saw one go for $9,100 on eBay 'bout a week ago.
