hey afrocentric,my sons bday is the 5th,!!the wife could have had him on the 4th too,but the whole "im tired of pushing" attitude got in the way (he he..) PUSH! come on PUSH DAMNIT!! im kidding, really lmao..but the 4th never meant much to me other than spending time with fam, bbqing, and spending money to watch it go up in smoke literally..they sure are fun to watch though..I love it..But I gave up buying them a couple years back(too expensive!) the normal 50-100 bucks I would spend, now goes to the bank or bills.btw HAPPY B-DAY 2 YOUR SON!! hope you all have a fun one!!

I celebrate the 4th of July by spending time with family. The holiday it self was meant for white americans and their experience. The so called national holidays that we celebrate with the exception of MLK do not include the contributions of Afro-Americans. Some of us attempt to include ourselves by celebrating the 4th due to we look for acceptance from the so called white man who enslaved us and still does to a certain degree today. We forget when the original independence day happened we were slaves and not considered citizens. So I ask why do we celebrate a holiday that was not meant for us?

Citizens, your fathers made good that resolution. They succeeded; and to-day you reap the fruits of their success. The freedom gained is yours; and you, there fore, may properly celebrate this anniversary. The 4th of July is the first great fact in your nation's history-the very ringbolt in the chain of your yet undeveloped destiny.
times have changed so now we have the right to celebrate the 4th of july. .

Juneteenth isn't any day of Independence!!!
If we where to say that it would lead us to believe we are free but we aren't!!!
How can we say we are Free when some many Africans when the American Economy is largely supported by a Prison Industry that we are over 60% of?
How can we say we are free when in DC in a hood by the name of Trinidad the Police set up Military Check Points around it like they do in Bagdad?
How can we say we are free when we are not Self-Determining?

Juneteenth wasn't when we got Free because we didn't say we where Free. We didn't make that struggle!!!
The reality is that if you a Government one day says you a Slave then the next day says you are a citizen, you are no less a Slave than you where before because that same government has the power to go right back and say you are a Slave again!

The Chinese didn't get free through emancipation. They got Free By Struggling For their Freedom!
