The author of "Retake Your Fame: Black Contribution to World Civilization Vol. 1, " claims that Hannibal was Black, and so has other writers like Ivan Van Sertima.

However Mary Lefkowitz claims that Hannibal was a "Semite," a term that is often often used as a linguistic and racial term. However, Hannibal was a Carthaginian, descendant of the Phoenicians who were the Black Canaanites. They were descended from Ham and not from Shem.
