Those are 3 good reasons right there.

He did not do anything for black's no...but why aren't you asking yourself how could a black person (house or not) be a president? That's what you need to ask, and if you find the answer, you'll be lead to the answer of why ALL presidents who were, were. And then you'll understand why they are doing what they do, and what those actions are leading to.

So actually, it's very important, this is the first step on your research regarding this man and (here's a hint) the organization he was a part of.
You misunderstood my statement.
I was saying the fact that he is black does not matter because he is not representing our interests. You can be Black white ytellow or purple for all I care. But if you are not working in the interests of the African Community you are an enemy and we should see anybody as that.

He's half white, and by his actions, he's all white. Many of us are acting like this is our only chance to have someone in the whitehouse black. Like we don't have other more important issues in our community. None of these issues Obama has the experience, moral fiber, or competence to help us deal with.

Other than making history for those who want to claim his as black, his presidency will bring no benefits to the black community.

This is the ultimate 'the lesser of two evils' litmus test (for us):

I. e., so far more safer (and saner) to cast a vote for a new turk, (who may well come to feel and think it just doesn't make much dollars and sense to go on playing cop on the world beat as well as let other nations solve their own issues and problems),
than yet another old fart, (who is more than willing to fall on his proverbial sword out of blind loyalty ad naseum to those white inheritors who are just protecting their own rear ends as well as their investments etc. around the globe)...

At least that's my take on this subject...

FYI...

Good morning, Dblack...

But yet again (after I had already logged in) something I tried to post got rejected as though I hadn't beforehand...

Thing is:

I'm not the only person who posts on this board...

And I never claimed I had the answers to all of the questions...

So I'll just stick to what I've already saiid/written/posted...

At least for now...

Next?

FYI...

Later...

Peace...

If Obama isn't all that either?

Then our struggle(s) (must) continue!

And one of my mentors also revised Malcolm's old sayings:

As in:

"Equality and justice, etc. , by ALL means necessary!"

What we needed yesterday was a new call to action to do alll of the things some of us claim the elected officials can't or won't...

If that also includes actually using what the past movement won us (back), as in elect our own slates of progressive men and women to office, at least on the local/city/county/state level?

That also reminds me of another ole saying:

"Use what you got to get what you need!"

So what say you, 'ex' panther conrade, and likewise?

I await your further replies with more than the usual interest...

FYI...

Interesting analysis. I live in Asia and most of them think Christianity is the strangest thing they have ever seen.

Well....J.A. Rogers wrote a pamphlet called The Five Negro Presidents...I looked at the link offered about the Six Negro Presidents and the informations is similar.....if not exactly the same....

I thought I was the only one that was not on the Obama bandwagon....I mean really I dont have a problem with him as a person but as a political figure that is supposed to represent the needs of the people he might as well be Ronald Regan...I really think Obama may be the anti christ

He's black, he's white, he's two mints in one! The Obama problem is that he is the realization of living in this country. Evidently, while trying to keep the so called gene pools separate, (they're living in the same dish folks) they have mixed, now nobody wants to claim the outcome "as is". We rather analyze as to whether he is black enough or too black. (The degree to which he has been mutated from purity and how he is culturally defined.) Calibration by examination is such a cruel process. Bill Clinton played the sax, did that make him cool enough for blacks? Maybe Obama should wear baggy pants and rap or get an honorary degree from a historically black university. Then is Obama automatically expected to be the "Great Black Hope" because he is "sort of one of us"? Oh my, Jesse is so disappointed.
Would we have done better if Obama had marched, been beaten in a riot, been shorted of opportunities while growing up and been a committed fundamental Baptist? I think we don't trust the life that is in a black person who has grown up in America any more than we trust a white person. But we think we know what to expect from McCain. It would be a big mistake to make Obama the Saviour of our race. Even what he represents in history is only an increment to progress. We have to go through the process of time in this country, there are no shortcuts when it comes to changing minds and improving America. A president is not a king, if the rest of gov doesn't saddle up we are doomed anyway. And speaking of standing up for the black community, shall he do it at the expense of other communities? Historically, everybody in America has played the "different race" card trying to promote separation, blending but denying and not changing even though change in evident. Obama is really a change, America has to deal with it.
