RICHMOND, Va. (Associated Press) -- Mildred Loving, a black woman whose challenge to Virginia's ban on interracial marriage led to a landmark Supreme Court ruling striking down such laws nationwide, has died, her daughter said Monday.Supreme Court upheld their right to marry in 1958. The ruling struck down laws banning racially mixed marriages in at least 17 states.they were arrested within weeks and convicted on charges of "cohabiting as man and wife, against the peace and dignity of the Commonwealth," according to their indictments.

Sounds like a compelling story.

Mildred Loving definitely deserves to go down in the history books; especially black history.

The interesting thing is white peoples greatest fear has not come true. The real story about interracial marriage is not black and white, it is Hispanic and white and Asian and white. Even Native American and white out numbers black and white. However, the Natives might lose themselves if they go to far.

Even though neo-nazis see even that as a disaster, most of the children will probably identify as white.

But who knows, in the long run by opening this door, Mildred may be one of the greatest champions of black survival.

I mean I feel a large population of mixed whites along with a white America heavily blended into Hispanic America and into Asian America is more likely to produce a greater percentage of people who will resist the extreme right -- not just the mixed people but their white relatives who accept them as white and want to protect them.

I clicked to see the rest of the story but it was not there. I think I saw a similar movie about another African American woman of whom fought a struggle that was also in Virginia. The actress of the documentary that I saw was Lynn Whitefield.
