We called them be-bops or cool cups, as a matter of fact I think I might be the candy lady this summer

Chuckles....
Well I remember when (kool cups) was the cheap version of a popsicle.
... when kids played outside from noon till night fall.
... when kids actually played in the bayou, crawfishin and
catching snapping turtles
... disco ruled the airwaves (the sylvers, debarge, barry white)
... when black radio stations were black
... when cable tv was about 20 channels
... when fire engine red living room suits were huge
... when Richard Pryor was the only comedian
... when there was no such thing as a pedophile
... computers were the size of gym lockers
... when VCRs were a 1,000 dollars a pop
... when Cleopatra Jones was the only sister with a car phone

Hold on now, if 30 is the new 40, doesn't that make 40 the old 50??
The reason that I'm asking is well....I'm 40!
To add to the memory lane list
How about the days when someone (indoors) within 2-3 doors of your house was getting a whoopin' everybody (outdoors) knew about it and noone called the po-po's!
If you wanted to watch TV it had better be either when there were no grown folks home or you watched what they watched or watch nothing at all. Your own personal TV was a dream.

Good choice of forums, Samoon - gives yunguns bits of OurStories, seen as "dead," tho much of it is badly needed NOW.
OK too, I'm an old head and pleased to be reminded of somethings to do I buried and will exhume

Hey...... wait a minute..... I'm close to 40. Let me see if i could go way back.
I remember........
1. when teachers took the time to teach us and helped us more.
2. if i got in trouble in school my grandma got my a$$ as soon as i hit the corner to my house
3. if i got in trouble in the neighborhood my grandma would get a phone call from some one in the same neighborhood and my a$$ was a hot tamale when she got through with me.
3 if i acted up in church and she found out about it. That's was my a$$.
Now the fun stuff......
School dance was good in my days with Roger playing 'I Wanna Be Your Man' or Midnight Star 'Wet my Whistle'.
Walking to the store, house party, or church with out being shot down was safe then.

Samoon, my sistah! send me, via osmosis, some of your power to refresh memories. Sistah! I'd dig having power to stimulate memories of our Maa'fa somewhat like Baruti did in his book on remembering through the eyes of our ancestors!
Maybe like what just happened here will happen again only from waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back. Then onanother tip, waaaaaaaaaaaaay back lives today. ;)
