I know that this topic is very old BUT I enoyed reading this. My mother told me this story and so did my father. He has a painting by Harold on his wall (bought in PAP back in 1992) that commerates (?) the Haitian Revolution.

Sidenote: A movie should be made. Hollywood loves to make movies out of hisstory but OurStory is ignored. Makes you go hmmm...

Yes the Haitian Victorious Revolution needs to be kept in the minds of all Afrikans at home and abroad....

May it live forever in our celebrations and lives as inspirations to say, feel and work to establish: NEVER AGAIN

And to remember that, as if innate in Black people's nature to do so, to never trust a white man again. For even today France is still demanding reparations from Haiti for its losses. Little is said of the snake like hyprocisy of Napoleon who imprisoned Toussaint L'Overture....

Baba, much agreed. France needs to give Haiti backs its money. People then wonder why Haiti is in such a financial ruin and why she can not stablize herself. It's deeper then what the media or anyone else will tell you.
