I beleive this is the first time I've announced that a resident has been banned. But It's for reasons that i want to share with the Family since we are getting large and growing even more.
Today, I banished Mr. Bronx. This time it's permenant. I want to take some time to explain why, so the family will understand more of why this choice is made.
First of all let me say that this is not a generalist community like say, BET boards. We have rules and they are enforced. While a lot can be said freely, we don't allow people to continually disrespect others directly or otherwise. We try to strike balance between freedom of expression and moderation of offensive content. A few members have a major problem with this. This is to be expected. But 99% of the AfroFamily doesn't have a problem with this. So onward we move.
Mr. Bronx, although seldom attacking people personally, was always in the middle of drama or negative exchanges. Some residents wanted me to ban him because they didn't like his views. Too bad for them. I can't and won't do that. He was banned because of his:
- disrespect to staff.
- disrespect to residents; indirect and direct attacks.
- constant bickering and negativity in discussions.
The AfroStaff doesn't like to ban anyone. We try and try and try to squash the situation before it comes to that. But unfortunately a very small few want to hold on to grudges, protray themselves as the victom and act in a way that is divisive to the AfroFamily. We simply won't allow it.
If there is a problem, AfroStaff tries their best to squash it. For residents that want to hold on to negativity, for those residents who reject attempts by staff to make and perserve peace, AfroChat is not the place for you and we respectfully ask that you leave our humble abode and find another community to poison. Why hang around stirrig up drama? Do US ALL a favor and vacate. We will respect you more for it. If you are in a bad relationship with a significant other, won't you be an adult and do the same?
I am a human being. So is my staff. We make mistakes. And So do residents. And the AfroStaff is VERY forgiving of everyone. But enough is enough sometimes. If there is a resident out there that is not respectful of that, then AfroChat is not the place for them.
This is not a threat or anything remotely like that. I'm just doing what family should do.
In closing, I am asking that any of you out there that have a disagreement with a fellow resident or staff member, be the bigger person and just squash it. Who cares' whos right or wrong? What good is it doing to hold on to it? Please!
I love each and everyone of you for you are like me, Black, beautiful, and trying to have something positive on the net.
Please divert any questions and comments to me via pm. thx for your time in reading this.
