When AfroStaff deletes posts....

I want to take a moment to be candid about the AfroStaff duties to moderate a board and why posts are deleted.

Posts are deleted because they are in violation of some rule. There are times when a post fits into a grey area, and are therefore at the sole judgement of the moderating staff member. You will not always agree with what we do, but please respect it. And before you accuse us of favoritism, censorship or some other epithet of disintegrity, put yourself in our shoes and what we strive to do consistently.

If you feel a staff member is not reporting a post, report it yourself by clicking on the icon with the "!" sign in it at the bottom of a post. We will not catch every posts. It's impossible. But if you never take the time to help us police the community by using the tools in place, what right do you have to accuse staff of wrong doing?

Don't contact any staff member inquiring an explanation about any member but yourself. It's unfair and disrespectful to be up in the affairs of others. We will not discuss it.

If you want to rally up support for or against a fellow resident, you can do so within the confines of the rules and regulations.

If you want to vent about how a staff member treats you, then of course PM that staff member, or contact me if you cannot get a response from them.

So, in closing, understand that we are not perfect. And don't assume that because you don't SEE something being done, that nothing's being done.

Oh please, it was OBVIOUS that deleting WOIs post citing it being "off topic" was CLEARLY favortism ESPECIALLY when you've posted some off topic posts today, so have I, and so has Mr Bronx.

I respect what you're doing here and trust me if in your shoes, I would have deleted my OWN off topic posts before I delete someone elses post that was CLEARLY on topic.

As far as the affairs of others, It was MY forum and the feedback was genuine. My question was on YOUR actions and not the "affairs of others".

No one is asking you to be "perfect", IM asking you to be fair, unbiased and consistent.

If you have a problem with one of my posts or another staff members, report the post as stated in the beginning of this thread. My posts as well as others have been deleted.

leveling inaccurate accusations at any of us is unfair, and inappropriate. PM me to discuss further, but I'm not going to argue about what is clear.

So to repeat:

YOu dont' like a post; report it.
What we do with another resident is the business of that resident and the staff member.

I understand what you mean. My posts were also deleted and they were totally on point, on topic and non threatening. Do the following words sound familiar:

"You Can't Handle The Truth"! I told the truth and it still didn't matter.


What's the point of starting an online journal? If we post comments that are our own thoughts and feelings, will those comments also be deleted in their entirety? Time will tell.
