I hear what you are saying, but I think you got it twisted: Mandella never really forgave, he simply chose to front and tolerate. Without any real power or standing military, Mandella was really powerless.
From another perspective, I tend to have more favor towards a leader that can put aside his personal pride and desires for the good of the people, as opposed to his personal transgressions at home..which were on both sides. And I can certainly understand him not forgiving his wife, that is far more of a personal matter.
Whites still control his land, but there can be no doubt, Mandell was and is a hero. Nothing like modern black leaders of today.
