What special interests are you referring to? The man is receiving the lion share of his contributions from ordinary people via the web, at an average of $ 100.00 per person. This is campaign finance reform at it's best.

Yeah, he changed his mind about the use of public funds. What's the big deal? The Obama campaign is expected to raise in excess of $ 500 million during the general election, and only a fool would agree to accept the financial constraints imposed by the campaign finance system.
Why settle for $85 million when you know full well you're capable of raising 5 times that by ethical means? Grow up !!!!
With the kind of money Barack is expected to raise, he can compete heavily by advertising in a number of "red states" that were once thought to be safe for Republicans, states like Georgia, North Carolina, Montana, Colorado, Indiana, Virginia, Kansas and Nevada. He's gonna bankrupt the McCain campaign by making them spend money in places they thought they wouldn't have to. And this is the very thing that Republicans fear. They know they're not equipped to compete against Obama in all of these states, and Obama plans to run what he calls, a "50 state strategy". McCain is in trouble, and he knows it.
Another thing....
Barack is going to need those extra funds to help fight off the Republican "swiftboaters", better known as the independent 527s. John Kerry lost the 2004 presidential election because he didn't have enough money set aside to respond to those types of groups.
