I have conflicting feelings concerning abortions. Always have. In my younger days I would say I was "pro-life" but feeling "pro-choice" in my heart. At this time I have decided to follow my heart but still is somewhat conflicted.
I surely don't believe that abortion should be banned outright and entirely. This notion does not make any sense to me for the reasons stated by another poster: The life of the mother, terrible defects, rape and incest.
When we debate whether abortion should be legal or not we are, for the most part debating whether it should be allowed to be performed by professionals in a hospital setting. A woman can always have an abortion, but most people want to see the proceedure performed in a hospital or clinic and not in a "back alley." And of course poor women are the only ones having to have to worry about this part of the equasion because women with money would always have the option of a safe medical proceedure being performed on them, abortion being legal or not.
Yes, I am essentially pro-choice but I have a moral twist to my pro-choice stance. I don't agree with abortion being a form of birth control; I don't agree that abortions should be performed after 7 or 8 weeks which is when (correct me if I am wrong) that this being shows reaction to cold and warm temperatures which tells me and others that the ability to feel pain is present.
If you have ever seen the results of suction abortions you would understand where I am coming from. The limbs are ripped apart in the womb.... to a being that can feel pain, this is horrendous. I hear that abortions can be performed up to 20 weeks. Unless their is an emergency, this is unacceptable to me. They have to burn (torcher) this being in the womb and facilitate an actual birth in this situation. Redicules.
These are just my stipulations and opinions and they are not up for discussion. This is just how I feel. And I would never suggest a woman have an abortion. I would tell her to follow her heart...
I am also aware of the many women who have severe regrets and even nightmares after an abortion; Like someone said before, we need to be educated about abortion.
