lets not forget. frederick douglass and his peers had to learn to read by candlelight in a dark cabin. and had to deal with the consequences (death) if he was caught. of course blaming the schools is the easy way out. but not the solution. education has to start in teh black home, not the white school
Chuck:

Good evening, poster...

But, my goodness, seventy percent of the children who continue to attend Detroit's public schools, (and others who go elsewhere too), are being raised by single females, also who probably need and want as much support, just keep a roof over her and her kid's heads, etc.!

So, are you factoring that in to your equation, i. e., as regards how the black family as I (or you) grew up in the midst of, may well be the exception (not the norm), ala 2008?

Though one can easily guess you're also asking yourself next too!

As in:

"Where's the daddy?"

I ask instead:

So what are some of those colored and black (biological adults and biological fathers) all about their damn selves?!?

Folks are trying to play off the aborginal as normal and natural for us...

I say (and write):

Based on what?!?

Even my two distant enslaved african ancestors (both children) got taken in and raised as their own by somebody else's parents too:

So flashforward and I tire of some folks self serving cop outs (as well as how some expect to win their argument by default)!

In my case:

Don't bet on it!

Folks used to amuse me by saying/writing on these forums to 'keep it real':

I say and write it's long overdue for us to BE for real about the unresolved issues and problems we need and should want to be a part of resolving ala the here and now...

Be for real, folks:

As per usual?

The only ones we can expect to save us is us!

Nothing new or news about that!

FYI...

And another one from a friend of the family...

Take care...

Later...

Peace...
