I'll gladly raise my hand in this, for it is the only honest to observe that it will still happen regardless what the 'people' want or could stomach.
Technological breakthroughs, especially in the last centuries, have all been attributed to our research of warfare, this also includes medicines and every other facet of life. It is the methodology of the beast and closer to our primal natures than anything else...
but regardless, wars would be fought for anything else if religion wasn't involved, it just happens that the ignorant would like to put a label on it rather than deal with their true objectives.
