IMO, a spanking is a far cry from child abuse. We all understand the emphasis of the original post and I'm sure we"ve all witnessed that type of thing for ourselves. I know just what Dubfly was getting at because I've seen it happen plenty of times...in the mall, grocery stores, at the park, where ever. And while that white mother stands there trying to brush off the embarassment, I look at my son and can't even begin to picture him coming out of his face like that to me. I'm not saying that he doesn't need a reminder every now and then and on his off days, he begs for that tune up which I certainly honor his request. I know for a fact that does not equate to child abuse. Ever wonder why today's youth is so out of control? No question in my mind...children are being raised far differently then those of previous generations. Children now threaten to notify the authorities when a spanking is about to be the next thing they experience. (wonder where they get that stupid idea from). From morals ethics and values all the way to discipline including a good old fashioned butt whoopin, things have changed and not necessarily for the better. Make no mistake, I'm not saying spanking your children is always the answer. There are other methods of discipline but sometimes they really do need a tune up....we all do! Peace and blessings family.
