Hope things work out better for you. I live in SoCal and my mom lives in Ohio. She had a very bad stroke this time last year. I had to go back and do what I had to do. She never recovered. Long and very painful story. She is in a nursing home now. I went back three times last year and spent a great deal of time doing various things since my mom requires 24 hour care and could no longer maintain a home and other activities. It was extremely stressful since I am the only child and my mom and I are very, very close. To end my story, I know how bad family situations can be. You have to do what you can and hard as it is to accept, you must realize your limitations.
