Let me clarify... I provide the "categories" so people understand what's what. What do I encourage? Veganism. What am I? A vegan.

You ask about my transition. I was never a big pork or beef eater - I didn't even care for fish. However, Chicken? Had a hold on me - that and cheese!

By the grace of the Creator, I didn't go to some doctor and have them tell me that my health was deteriorating, or that I had to change my diet. By the way, NO doctor would tell you to give up eating animal-products because they profit off of what MEAT does to your body - MAKE YOU ILL!

The Blessing to me was having the opportunity to change my die-t because I wanted to. It all happened literally overnight. I had dinner at my sisters, and for some reason she made a common dinner, but included no meat. Even dessert, no animal products. It was delicious. It was the first time in my life that I didn't have some part of a dead animal on my plate - to me, that's sad.

With that excitement, I went from that Thursday evening, and looked up Monday morning and realized that a weekend had passed. I called my sister and the same was for her. Then, it turned into a week without meat. Then 2 weeks. And how my mind works, I have to see progress... I couldn't cheat or that would make me think that I had to start over from square-one... I couldn't continue adding to the weeks.

Point is, I saw the time progress... 3 months, 6 months, and when a year came, I was overwhelmed with what I felt I accomplished. I must say, however, I didn't readily give up cheese. That was the last thing I gave up...

I say all that to say that it's at your progress... do what works best for you. But do SOMETHING is what I encourage. It will change your life!

I'd be honored to share with you whatever I can to help you along in the journey. It's a beautiful one.
Hey SistahSpeaks, I meant to reply alot sooner! Hope your weekend is going well so far. Well I have not ate meat for days now...Since I last replied to you. Let me tell you this, my family may get offended at me being a vegetarian. I have actually been sneaking some of my meals so they dont know exactly how my eating habits are at the moment. The reason I want to become one, is because I eat-ALOT! I am afriad they may get a little offended because I am still thin (not anorexic or nothing like that). I have a shape and I dont want them to get the impression that Im depriving myself of food. Also, do you have to have the right funds to become one? We are on a tight-budget right now, so I would like to know-the healthiest foods are sooo expensive. Or is it okay to use what foods we have already? (mostly canned or frozen) None of the food we have is organic.
Thanks, Take care.
