Some of this could be seen in many of today's mind altering techniques. I still remember the first speech my Drill gave when I joined the service and again in Ranger school, as well as other speeches given by a variety of organizations. It is made to tap the inner workings and fears of the host to bring out whatever you want out of them.
The ability to control the crowd makes it easier for slight of hand, it is seen obviously when we looked at the coverage of 9/11, when the Bush Administration and his lackey Guiliani placed the fear in everyone due to 'terrorism'... the word itself is a keyword used to provoke a response as well as the guise for all in which they are doing in the name of... terrorism
