How do we build networks.

A lot of people on this list acknowledge at least in lip service that black folk need to focus on building our own economy, but how do we do that? I say networks. The problem is that not many people understand how networks operate. I have a bit of understanding after having read a couple books on network theory, and network analysis. But I'd like to know what you guys and gals think about building black business networks . . . what would be some good businesses to start with, and where and when can we branch out from those initial businesses.
