Remember that movie Losing Isaiah?
Losing Isaiah - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Not to say this whole conversation is based on a situation like that (being that the character Halle Berry played was a drug addict) but the constant theme of race was played in that movie. Jessica Lange could not understand what Isaiah was going through as well as Halle when she got Isaiah back in the movie. Hearing everyone speak on this made me think about this movie. Before race can come into play, it honestly is all about responsibility for the child that needs to be taken into consideration. What we are talking about here is giving a child lessons in who they are as black children. Can a white woman do that? I don't think she can if she's going to always involve race in everything that the child does; she will more than likely not be able to relate. She can raise a man; from a basic perspective of teaching usual things such as brush your teeth, iron your clothes, and etc. Raise a black man? Hmmm. If you are parent of a different race of a the child you are raising, tapping into their heritage and trying to school them on it is a challenge within itself because of the actual personal relation that is there. Good topic.
