Wow LadyD, this is tough. On the one hand, no parent should ever allow their sixteen y/o's "lover" to sleep over, especially in the same room/bed.
However, whether one is homosexual or not, it can be very difficult at times to determine the motives and intentions of someone else's child. In this day and age many parents are, for good reason, leery about having other children stay over; whether or not their sexual preference is known.
That being said...If it were me, I don't think I would allow my sixteen y/o's same sex friends to stay over if my child believed him/herself to be lesbian or gay.
